

Adele Shellanda Williams (AKA) Adele the poet, was born February 22, 1976, in Rockville Center, Nassau County N.Y. to Vassel Roy and Hyacinth Ross Williams, who predeceased her. She was the oldest of two children.
Adele attended New York Military Academy, (NYMA) in Cornwall On – Hudson, N.Y. She was a Sergeant Major (SGM), and in her senior year she achieved the rank of First Captain / Head Girl. Adele attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Queensborough Community College, Bayside, N.Y. – City University Of New York (CUNY) New York Institute of Technology, Old Westbury, New York – where she graduated with a BSc, Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. Western Governors University (WGU) – she received a MS Degree in Mathematics. Adele also attended University of Ghana, Accra, Ghana. There she studied the Transatlantic slave trade from an African Perspective.
Employment: Adele worked at Costco in Roosevelt Field, Nassau County, N.Y. She worked with the New York City Dept. of Education at Springfield Gardens High School, August Martin High School and Long Island City High School as a Teacher of Mathematics. Also, whenever a teacher is absent, Adele volunteered to teach their classes, in these subjects, Chemistry, English and Music.
Adele was also a poet that loved writing poems which she did almost daily. She filmed YouTube videos reciting her poetry. And read her poems at the Bowery Poetry Club in NYC monthly.
Adele was kind and had a strong love for her family and loved her friends also. She loved cats, especially her cat Joules. Also, a strong work ethic, got up at 5:30AM each morning. Very business oriented. Adele was a Notary Public for the State of New York.
Adele had a tutoring business, she tutored Chemistry, Math, English, Biology and Computer Science. Growing up, Adele attended St. Albans Congregational Church (UCC) St. Albans Queens, N.Y. and she also attended Springfield Gardens United Methodist Church as an adult.
After Adele suffered a brain injury, a next-door neighbor came and told her family how Adele came and prayed with him each afternoon until he got better. With so many interests, Adele enjoyed playing the piano which she started playing when she was six years old. She also loved drawing and knitting.
Left to cherish her memories are father, Vassel Williams; sister Joan Williams; Grandmother Cynthia Temple McKenzie; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

We loved thee well, but Jesus loves thee best goodnight. Calm is thy slumber as an infant’s sleep. But thou shalt wake no more to toll and weep. Thine is a perfect rest, secure and deep goodnight, goodnight.”

A funeral service will be held at Riverside-Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, located at 7205 West Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach, FL 33446, on March 28, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will be available via live stream at https://dignifiedjourney.com/.
