Mary White, (also known as “Merry”) to many of her friends was age 76 living in Northridge, CA. She made her transition on June 1st, 2015 due to natural causes. Mary was born on Sept 13, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in Houston, Texas and attended college in Austin majoring in drama. She met her husband, a ski instructor, Ernest Emmer while taking a ski lesson from him. She married him and had two children. She owned and operated, liquor stores, convenience stores and reinvented herself to become an ordained minister for Religious Science in 2002. She was preceded in death by her mother Eva Dungan and older sister, Carol Pierce. She is survived by her older brother, George (and wife Jeanne White), her son, Marc and wife Kerri, daughter, Dana Emmer, five nephews, four nieces, and two grandchildren, Megan and Brooke Emmer.
Mary lived life largely. Friends would describe her as generous, worldly, intelligent, personable, persevering, a gourmet cook, adventurous, and, well read. She enjoyed being surrounded by friends, family, and, nature. Part of her adventures included skydiving with a group of her minister friends, scuba diving, and flying lessons. She loved to travel and play as hard as she worked. Truth be told she did not really like to work in retail and figured out a way to experience adventures throughout the world traveling to many continents. However, she was spiritual and believed in ministering to others. She served as an ordained minister in various churches and as a chaplain at the Community Hospital in Carmel CA. We will miss her zest for life, sense of humor, knowledge of sports, her witty banter, and positive attitude despite life’s challenges.
