Carolyn (Cooper) was born in Glendale, California on August 31, 1943. Raised and educated in Southern California she resided in Highland Park and Eagle Rock where she met her future husband. A devout Christian, Carolyn became a role model for him and their daughter.
Carolyn became a military wife as she accompanied me to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and to Beale Air Force Base in Marysville, California. We were married in the chapel on the base in Texas in 1964.
In 1968, after four years in the Air Force, we returned to Los Angeles where Carolyn worked as a travel agent for many years before deciding to stay home once our daughter was born in 1983. Carolyn lovingly gave up her career to ensure that our daughter had a full time Mom to guide her through childhood, the school years, and early adulthood. Carolyn was a great seamstress, avid reader, and student of the Bible.
Carolyn is survived by husband James Brent Russell, daughter Shaneen Lucile Horton, and grandson Ethan Joshua Horton. Her own brothers and sisters, John Cooper (and wife Agnes), Chris Cooper, and Sarah Cooper, will have her in their hearts forever as we all cherish the memory and love of Carolyn. Carolyn's other family pre-deceased her - father James Cooper, mother Lucile Cooper, and brother Richard Cooper.
Carolyn is home in Glory now with them all and awaits our future reunion in peace and joy with no more pain, no more tears, and no more sorrow.
A funeral service for Carolyn will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Valhalla, 10621 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park, 10621 Victory Blvd, North Hollywood, CA 91606.
