Robert R Platten, 81 of Cape Coral, Florida; passed away July 21, 2018. He was born in Batavia, New York in 1937. He became a resident of Cape Coral, in 2002. Mr. Platten graduated from Batavia High School in 1955.
Bob and his family owned and operated Platten’s Northside Deli, West End Grocery and Platten’s Grocery of Elba, N.Y. He became owner of Platten’s Northside Deli in 1974, in Batavia, New York. After 28yrs he sold out in 2002 to retire to Florida and be with his children.
He was active in scouting for 60 Years with cub scouts, boy scouts, receiving his Eagle, Order of the Arrow and as a Scoutmaster for Troops 1, 3, 5, 9 and Coed Explorers Post 128. He even earned the Silver Beaver award which is the highest honor a local council can bestow upon a registered adult leader.
He was President of Batavia Muckdogs Booster Club, that he organized and started from 1990-2002.
He is survived by Brothers Tom (Micki) of Livonia, Calvin (Ruth) of Batavia, Albert (Noreen) of Corfu. Former wife Anne Longobardi Platten; Daughters Carolyn and Cheryl; Sons Robert Jr. and Bryan (Tammy) of Florida and Randy (Nory) of Virginia. Also, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grand children.
