Barbara Jean Martin

Barbara Jean Martin passed away on 08 May 2020. She was born in Chicago on 19 May 1940. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Ebba and Richard Hansen. She is survived by her husband Paul and several cousins, including a favorite in MN still living on the same farm where she spent many summers growing up.

After moving to Glenbrook, IL, Barbara attended Northbrook High School, then Lake Forest College. Later she transferred to the University of Florida. Barbara graduated with honors with a BS in Business Administration in 1962. Later that summer she married Paul F Martin whom she met while attending the University of Florida. For 3 years Barbara worked as an Executive Secretary for Elizabethtown Gas Company in Elizabeth, NJ.

Barbara has lived in several states - NJ, FL,TX, and CT, as her husband's career transferred them around the country. They settled in Fort Myers Beach 20 years ago; while also maintaining a summer cottage in Maine.

She had a keen interest in travel: particularly our Western States, also Sweden, Norway, Scotland, England, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Egypt, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, and 9 countries in Central and South America. Activities Barbara enjoyed included needlecraft, archery, XC skiing, painting, Broadway plays, and boating.

Barbara was welcoming, considerate, helpful, bright, organized, fun and witty. She was delightful company and will be sorely missed by Paul and her many friends.

The services will be held privately, and in lieu of flowers you may donate to your favorite charity.
