Barbara Patricia Harrell, born on Valentine's Day 1934, loved her family. She was a fifth-generation Floridian. Her Daddy was a mullet man. Her Mama raised cattle. A self-made genealogist, Pat put together a book of family history spanning back to 1871. She signed it, "With admiration and love." A documentarian, she filmed family reunions with her VHS camcorder fixed on her shoulder, (nothing got past Pat). A seamstress, she sewed dresses for her daughters and granddaughters to wear to high-school dances, on their wedding days, to their graduations and galas. Pat loved unconditionally. She was accepting. Her handwriting was meticulous. Her life was a labor of love, packing her grandchildren in her car as often as she could to drive them all over creation. A farmer and a good cook, she knew what plants would heal you. She had a no-nonsense wisdom. Her faith was strong. Pat retired from United Telephone Company. She was fond of her time managing the Tropic Burger in Tropic Isles, all the kids in the neighborhood sat at her counter. Forever our Matriarch, Pat taught us all, "Family is family, and if you take the time to look hard enough, you will find good." On Jan. 6, Pat went Home to her Mama and Daddy, Ruth and Jim Scott, her three big sisters and baby brother. Here, she lives on through her three children, nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, each one loved. ~
