Relatives and friends of Sharon Lacheney are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 27, 2024, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, SC 29485. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.
Sharon was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Ovie and Ruth Braden on Saturday, September 11, 1943. She married her forever love and Navy man, Curley J. Lacheney, Jr., on Saturday, July 9, 1966.
Sharon was a strong believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a devoted lover of God, family, and country. Her greatest joy was her family. She deeply loved and served not only her family, but countless friends and neighbors. She took the time to thank those who served her, whether at the grocery store, salon, or wherever she went. She talked to her dog Sam as if he were human and took the best care of him.
Sharon enjoyed reading books, especially the Bible. She surrounded herself with mementos from family members and encouraging quotes. She loved coffee and football and was a proud Navy wife. Her favorite sports teams were the Boston White Sox, Fighting Illini, and Chicago Bears. Sharon was loyal to all these things until her final breath.
Sharon’s favorite verse of Scripture was Psalm 23. She had a message board in her special room (“Woman Cave”). Here are two of the quotes she had hanging there:
“Only one life, ‘twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.”
— C. T. Studd
The Measure of a Man
— Denis Wilmott Hansen
“Not ‘How did he die?’ but ‘How did he live?’
Not ‘What did he gain?’ but ‘What did he give?’
Not ‘What was his station?’ but ‘Had he a heart?’
And ‘How did he play his God-given part?’
We can all learn much from the life of faithfulness that Sharon displayed. Her legacy is the mark of a faithful and devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She tirelessly cared for her family, once sent stamps to inmates so they could send letters home to loved ones and donated regularly to the Kidney Foundation. She was quick to help out and share what she had with others who were in need.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Curley J. Lacheney, Jr.; her sons and daughters-in-law, Brett Lacheney (Robin), Craig Lacheney (Casey), and Nathan Lacheney (Grace); her grandchildren, Ariel Ramon, Jacob Lacheney, and Braden Lacheney, Stephen Siter, Keith Berry (Lapita) and her great-grandchildren Jak Lacheney and Amaya Ramon, Lupita Berry, Matthew Sookikian, Joshua Sookikian, Hannah Hood, Ashley Belisle, and Aileen Hood; her brother, David Braden; sister-in-law, Georgia Braden (David), nieces, Cheryl Hammerstein, Maria Braden; nephews, Michael Braden and Robert Braden (Laura) and their children Zachary and Andrew Braden and his daughter Adilyn Braden.
