Scott Patrick Dubis, beloved husband, son, brother and friend, passed away on March 23, 2023. Scott was born in Summerville, SC on March 12, 1971 and graduated from Summerville High School. From a young age, Scott could fix anything, and he pursued a career repairing and maintaining military vehicles and equipment as a contractor to the United States military. He received many honors and awards for the impact he made while contracting with the military. He loved the camaraderie of his military and contracting family, who accepted Scott as one of their own.
Scott was a genuine soul, always ready with a friendly smile and a helping hand. He had an unwavering positivity and resilience that lit up a room and inspired those around him. His laugh came easy and often and was infectious. His bigger-than-life energy and enthusiasm were contagious. He was truly one of a kind.
Scott’s career and passion for life took him around the world, including London, Amsterdam, Italy, Afghanistan, Spain, Kuwait, Dubai, Thailand, Qatar, Tunisia, and Iraq. Scott rode camels, elephants and tanks, swam with whales, skied indoors and touched lives everywhere he went. Scott's adventures and travels were a testament to his love of life and his eagerness to experience all that the world had to offer.
When he was home, Scott never sat still. He always had a home improvement and/or landscaping project underway. His home was his pride and joy, especially during holidays when he decorated every corner. Scott’s house was always the favorite gathering place for friends, family and neighbors.
Last year, Scott married the love of his life, Shay Smith. Shay shares Scott’s love of travel, eye for decorating and child-like enthusiasm. Scott and Shay built a beautiful life together and cherished every minute they had together.
Scott is survived by his wife Shay Smith Dubis, daughter Kayley King of Atlanta, GA, parents Frank and Pat Dubis of Summerville, SC, brothers Mike Dubis (Kathy), of Goose Creek, SC, Jeff Dubis (Melanie) of Raleigh, NC, and Shawn Dubis (Natalie, Juliana, Ella) of Charlotte, NC, niece Deann Dubis of Charleston, SC, nephew Michael Dubis (Tamra, Kayleigh and Tristan) of Summerville, SC and many uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family.
