Sandra Bernetha Wright lived her life with determination and grace, leaving behind a legacy marked by extraordinary achievements and selflessness. Born on January 16th, 1939, Sandra grew up in Martha's Vineyard and Moncks Corner, SC, under the loving guidance of her grandmother, Eliza Hutchinson.
She married the love of her life, Isaac Wright Sr., on September 15th, 1961, and shared a beautiful journey of 65 years, raising five sons and one daughter. While her husband served the nation in wars across Vietnam and Korea, Sandra lovingly nurtured her children, displaying unwavering strength and resilience. Sandra was a true entrepreneur. She traveled the world with renowned businessman and barber Willie Morrow to share black hair care methods with salons across Europe.
Additionally, she taught cosmetology at Farrah’s Beauty Colleges throughout SC, inspiring many young minds to pursue their dreams. Sandra's commitment to her community and church was unparalleled, dedicating her time and energies to Mitton Lane Holiness Church and the Berkeley High School band booster club, raising the most funds in the school's history. With a heart of gold and love for all, Sandra accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age, continuing to walk with the Lord until she was called home. Her entrepreneurial spirit ignited her ownership of two salons and the first mobile beauty supply in the state of SC. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Claudia Hamby.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Isaac Wright Sr., her 6 Children and their spouses, and loved ones: Quinten Wright, Walter Wright (Sabrina Wright), Isaac Wright Jr. (Frida Baicea), Paportia Reginald Wright (Tammy Feliciano) Sandra Wright Laribo (Kenard Laribo), Steven Wright (Diana Wright), and her brother, Pastor Anthony Hamby (Sandra Hamby). Sandra raised from birth, Tikealla Wright and nurtured Donald Walker from a young kid into a young man. 24 Grandchildren, 28 Great-grands, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. As her heart continued to go out to the community, she fostered a host of children as did her mother and Father Bishop Claud and Rosalee Hamby. Sandra will be sorely missed by all those who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness, love, and courage.
A public visitation at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home for Sandra will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with her Celebration of Life immediately following. She will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park thereafter.
