1st Sergeant Retired Robert Lee Ison

He was born on February 2, 1941 to Robert E. Ison and Helen Loring in Columbus, OH.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sarah Ison. His children Robert "Bobby" Ison, Jr, Tracy Hatchell (Dean), Cindy Miller (Mark), Tim Rhodes (Sabrina), Tammy Wilson. Grandchildren

Pamela Rhodes, Bobby Ison III, Justice Hatchell, Alexis Ardis, Sarah Rhodes, Hunter Hatchell, Jared Ison, Aaron Miller, Taylor Rhodes, Paxton Hatchell, Courtney Blair, Trinity Rhodes, and Preston Rhodes. Seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. HIs brother Rick Loring and sister Nancy Masterson.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert E. Ison, Helen Loring and Step Father Francis H. Loring.

Bob grew up in Columbus, OH and joined the USMC where he served for almost 22 years. Bob did two tours in Vietnam, 1 campaign in Panama, and was a drill instructor twice in Parris Island, SC. He received numerous medals and awards. He worked at Westvaco for 23.5 years and 17 years of that as Chief of Security. He was an avid racquetball player and loved fishing and hunting.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremation, 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Chapel, followed by burial at 3:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
