Pearl V Young

Pearl Vick Young, widow of Army Sgt. George W. Young, Sr., went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home in Ladson, South Carolina on Friday, February 2, 2024. She was 94 years old. Born on February 14, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina, she grew up in Murrells Inlet at home with her 10 siblings, where her father was a fisherman and mother was a homemaker.

Pearl leaves behind a rich legacy of family; 2 children, Patricia A. Dunlap (Earl-deceased) of Ladson and George W. Young, Jr.; four sisters and a brother; Barbara Vick of Georgetown, Shirley Prescott of North Charleston, Billy Vick (Jodie) of Murrells Inlet, Hazel Frick of North Charleston, Patricia Stevenson of Myrtle Beach; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by husband, George Young, Sr.; parents, Master Ira and Vivian Hilburn Vick; brothers and sister Junior Vick, Charles Vick, Jimmy Vick, Annette Bebee and Jack Vick.

Pearl was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She also assisted her husband George with the management of the family business Patton and Young Electronics. She enjoyed traveling including many adventures during the early years of marriage as she and her husband explored the countryside on their Gold Wing motorcycle. Pearl’s sassy, strong-willed personality earned her the nickname “Little Hugo”. She was also a cancer survivor, defeating throat cancer at the age of 85. She will be deeply missed by her family.

The family will celebrate Pearl’s life and will receive friends and family at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC on Monday evening, February 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, 11:00 AM at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The Burial will follow on Tuesday February 13 at 12:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
