A service to celebrate the life of Nonnie Craven Mitchum, 97, of Charleston and Columbia will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 9, 2017, in the chapel at Carolina Memorial Park (7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston) with Rev. Skip Owens officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial cemetery. Nonnie peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at White Oak Manor of Columbia surrounded by family members. She was born on July 23, 1920 to Malachi J. and Catherine D. Craven. Married to the late Clarence J. Mitchum, she is survived by son, Ronald C. Mitchum (Susan) of Columbia, daughters, Linda M. Watford (Don) of Hanahan, and Sheron M. Copeland (John) of Columbia. Also four grandchildren, Brian Watford (Kari), Heather W. Goettee (David), Randy Copeland (Ashley), Peter Copeland (Chelsea); seven great-grandchildren, Peyton, Hunter, Piper and Ben Watford, Andrew and Jackson Goettee, and Stanley Copeland; sister, Miriam C. Cox and sister-in-law, Dorothy Smoak and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by sister, Ruth C. Neal and brothers, Overland, Gary, and Prentiss Craven. The family would like to thank the staff at White Oak Manor of Columbia for their loving care during the past five years.
