Myrtle was born in Winston County, Alabama on January 14, 1928 to the late Carl and Ophelia (Gaines) Lockwood.
On May 6th, 1950, Myrtle married Hugh Tyler in Hollywood, Florida. Together they celebrated 49 years of marriage. Over the years, Myrtle was a Sunday School teacher, a Church volunteer, and a prayer warrior. She was a strong Christian who held firm in her faith. She was known for her speaking her mind, roses, fruitcake, preserves, biscuits, and quilts. Myrtle enjoyed working in the yard tending to her roses and making sure her yard was weeded. She also like to sit on her back deck and watch her chickens, as well as watching her game shows in the evenings, even if they were repeats.
Myrtle was preceded by her husband Hugh Tyler; daughter-in-law, June Tyler; grandson, Ronald Zilinsky; siblings, Adele Brown, Norma Dunn, Opal Lockwood, Travis Lockwood, Huland Lockwood and Bobby Lockwood.
Myrtle is survived by her children: Randy Tyler (Amy), Patty Zilinsky (Chuck), Steven Tyler and Susan Harmon (Bill); grandchildren, Randy Tyler (Theresa), Brent Tyler (Scarlett), Brandy Zilinsky, Quinnion Tyler (Ann), Joshua Tyler, Matthew Anderson, Jeremy Anderson (Hannah), and Tripp Harmon; great grandchildren; Kyle Tyler (Kristin), Ryan Tyler, Tyler Berger, Shayla Zilinsky, Kyle Leavy, Jackson Tyler, Norah Peratrovich, Roman Tyler, Harper Anderson, Brantley Anderson; great-great grandchildren, Izzy and Amelia Tyler, Ethan Berger and Joseph Leavy.
A visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Wando Pentecostal Holiness Church located 2713 Highway 41 in Charleston, SC 29492. The funeral service will follow immediately in the sanctuary. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park.
