Mikki L. Smoak, age 73, wife of William H. Smoak Jr., of Hanahan, South Carolina passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Mikki was born in Fairbanks, AK on September 14, 1949, to James Lackey and Freda Emerson Lackey.
Mikki is survived by her loving husband William "Bill" Smoak Jr; her daughter Tiffany Hoffman; her stepson Stephen Smoak; her grandchildren Parker Hoffman, Mason Hoffman, and Ava Smoak; her brother James "Jim" Lackey, and her sister Madelyn Carol.
A visitation will be held for Mikki on Saturday June 17, 2023, at 11:00 am at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home followed by a chapel service at 12:00 pm. The entombment will take place immediately after at Carolina Memorial Park. Mikki was an incredible woman and despite her health she had many accomplishments in her life, she was a strong person who never let her ailments hold her back. Mikki graduated from Hanahan High in 1968. Mikki graduated from USC with a master's degree in social work. She started as a Residential Realtor for Westvaco in 1993 and sold many of the homes in Crowfield, she went on to earn an award for Million Dollar Producer. Her true passion was being a teacher, she loved teaching her students dance and ballet and watching them learn and grow. Mikki was a kind person who loved animals, especially her dog Foxy. She was someone who always wanted to lend a helping hand, she often volunteered to help the homeless at the VA. She was also a board member of The Mended Hearts, a non-profit organization that supports individuals who are battling heart conditions. Mikki loved collecting angel figurines and artwork as she claimed to have seen angels many times in her life with battling with her heart condition. Most of all Mikki enjoyed spending times with the ones she loved. Mikki is now at peace but will be forever loved and dearly missed by those who knew her.
