It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Griffith, of Summerville, SC who left us on September 13, 2024 at the age of 53. A devoted family man and a lover of life, Michael was known for his work ethic, empathy, quick wit, hospitality and compassion.
Michael cherished his family and dogs above all. A loving husband to Christina and a proud father to Jade and Jordan, he always put family first, creating a home overflowing with love, warmth and a welcoming atmosphere.
He was a doting grandfather to Ezra, Benjamin and would have been to Eleanor (February 2025). Michael would just melt when around his grandchildren. He was often caught indulging their every whim with a smile on his face.
His love for football ran deep, spending countless weekends cheering on the Cowboys or Gamecocks (during all the ups and downs). On the open road, motorcycles were his freedom, where he found peace and exhilaration, whether riding solo or with his friends and family.
Music was a constant companion in Michael's life, being the soundtrack of most of the fun family memories. No gathering was complete without one of his signature dishes or amazing salsas. Michael was known for giving the best advice: keeping it real, but always fair. He also was quick to roast you or had a zinger ready for whatever situation with one of his funny facial expressions.
Michael found joy in golf and the memories he made with his son Jordan and the boys. Many of his favorite moments were spent on the golf course, or roadtripping to golf tournaments.
He was a proud Canutillo Eagle (TX) and often reminisced about the great times watching football films with his father William.
Michael is survived by his wife Christina Griffith, his children Jade Bowlin (Matthew Bowlin), and Jordan Griffith (Katie Griffith), his grandchildren Ezra Bowlin, Benjamin Griffith and Eleanor Griffith, parents William and Sue Griffith, siblings Brenda Murphy Ruiz, Jerry Murphy and Samantha Griffith, his brother-in-laws Benjamin (Chuck) Flores (Jill Flores), Albert Flores (Vanessa Flores), sister-in-laws Tish Snyder(Art Snyder) and Theresa Flores, a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, coworkers and neighbors who will continue to remember him fondly.
“Big Mike” touched many lives with his kindness, love of cooking, generosity and ability to bring people together. His enthusiasm for life, adventurous nature, and profound love for those he cherished will be felt as a deep and lasting absence.
A service of remembrance for Michael will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024. Visitation will begin at 3pm, followed by a memorial service at 4pm. All services will take place at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home at 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406.

For the hope that Michael always looked for from Jehovah God was his favorite scripture Revelations 21:4: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
