When I moved to Whiteville, getting ready to attend Southeastern, I knew no one.  How blessed I was to meet and become friends with Charlene and Linda/Dianne.  The RN program wasn’t easy, but having such wonderful friends made the tough times more tolerable and enjoyable.  We had some terrific times.  Even though we didn’t stay in touch much- I knew that if I was ever in need of help, my friends would be there to help me out.  Charlene- you will be missed by so many.  Heaven has gained a special angel. ❤️

Prayers and condolences to the family. Mrs. Charlene was always so sweet whenever I got the chance to visit with her. She will be missed. 

Charlene always sat behind me in church. When my husband had a stroke over the years she always had very kind and thoughtful and encouraging  words for me. We chatted from time to time on the phone. My husband got Corvid in January and passed in February she was so encouraging. I am so heart broken she has passed from the same thing. I will miss her so much. She brought Joey to church and always showed so much love for him. She shared how she loved her family so much and only wanted the best for them. May she rest in peace! Love Mary Gonsalves

     Charlene, you will truly be missed.  I have to thank you and Wendell so much for getting me started when I got out of the Army and came back to Charleston.  You had so much Love and Compassion for your family and friends.  You are the reason Brandy decided to become a nurse, and I thank you so much for that.

I am so sorry to hear of Charlene's death. She was a good friend to our family. My brother, Sammy, loved her dearly. We had so many fun times together. I will always remember the care she took of Sammy while he was sick. Hold the good memories close.

    There is a lot of memories I can share. From over the years when I was little, to my adolescence, and until now.  The way I remember my Aunt Charlene is openly loving and directly stern when need be.  She would always help you or give the words you needed hear to motivate you.  She helped me through many obstacles in my life,  up lifting my spirit and putting a smile on my face. As many times, I told her no words could express how thankful and how much I loved her.  She was one of those people that could inspire you without known that she was. I am so grateful for me and my son to have her in our lifes.  I would give anything to hear her say  "Junior everything is going to be ok" just one time.
I love you Aunt Charlene, thank you for being an angel in life.

RIP cousin Charlene!

I am a distant cousin of Charlene, and a very dear friend. Her parents and grandmother were close to my parents  and came to eat many Sunday dinners with us on many occasions. We just enjoyed laughing and sharing school stories and just being kin to each other.  I will miss her so so much. She was a wonderful person just to know and was so kind and loving. Till we meet again Charlene. I will always love you , 

I had the opportunity to work with Charlene at Roper North Hospital and she was such a caring person and an excellent nurse. RIP my friend for a job well done on earth. 

I will always remember her for her kindness and caring for others . I remember our senior year she would come by and pick me up to ride to school . She will Trully be missed. But I'm sure Heaven Is Sweeter With Her There.

She will be dearly missed by so many she was like a 2nd mom to me. I will always cherish the things she did for me and Wendy growing up. I love you and miss you dearly. 😭

Charlene was a very good friend and we met in the 80s. We enjoyed many good times and some not so good. I will truly miss her.  I will see you again good friend.😢❤️

Charlene and I met at a waffle house. We became friends. She will be miss but not forgotten. She had a good heart. She cared about others. 

Wendy, Danny, and Joey.  Our hearts are broken and words are not sufficient.  She was like a sister to me for so many years. My mother loved her like a daughter.  She was always there when we needed her.   You can be sure that she loved you all more than life itself.  Please know that you are in my prayers and always will be.

Charlene will be alive in my heart as long as my mind still works. She was a couple of years younger than I when we met in nursing school. We shared rides on our commute to college and to clinics in Lumberton, NC. We studied together, fretted over tests, shared feelings about life, guys, hopes, and dreams. She, Marlene,and I ate a lot of meals together, worked on patient care plans at same time, and were all determined to become good,compassionate nurses. We all wound up going our separate ways after college but occasionally caught up
 I miss her already. I know she loved you Wendy, Danny,and Joey and  hope your memories help you through her loss. May God give you strength. He blessed you with someone who loved you  and did her best. Bobby would have been so happy to have as much time with you.He loved her so much.
