Joyce was born on October 11, 1940 to the late John Liston and Clara Belle Talley in Charleston, South Carolina.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memories her Daughters, Theo Fouts (Denny) and Rosie Smith; Grandchildren, Daniel Johnson (Julia), Lauren Boudreaux (Jeff), Joshua Wingfield (Stella), and Hampton Smith; and Great Grandchildren, Kimberley Duc, Nathaniel and Alexander Johnson; Sister, Linda Eliason (Ken), and numerous other relatives and friends.
She is predeceased in death by her loving husband David C. Vega.
Joyce was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister and friend. She was an entrepreneur working side-by-side with her husband. She was a proud graduate of the 1958 class at Rivers High School and was the primary organizer of the annual reunion ensuring friendships were maintained and they still meet today. Joyce played an active role in the ladies auxiliary's of the Knights of Columbus Summerville chapter and the Charleston Rifle Club. She was a proud and active Elk and was awarded Elk of the Year from her Lodge as well at the State level in 2018-2019. She was a devoted member of Seacoast Summerville Church. Her smile and friendly disposition was a blessing to so many, never meeting a stranger she extended her hand and heart to so many who were blessed by her company and friendship. She had a generous heart and loved her family without ceasing.
A visitation at Carolina Memorial Funeral home for Joyce will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3 PM. A celebration of life service at Carolina Memorial Funeral chapel will occur Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 3:00 PM with interment to follow. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Life Celebration Reception from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Summerville Elk's Lodge #2719, 105 Elk's Lodge Lane, Summerville, SC 29483.
