Joyce was born on January 17, 1942, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Shade R. and Vera Ard Rogers. The family moved to Charleston when Joyce was a young child. She met the love of her life Joseph Daniels and they were married on November 15, 1959. Joyce spent her life as a homemaker, “Mom,” and “Granny” to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joyce taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Dor-Way Baptist Church where she was a member for over 50 years. She continued to serve after she was led by her son to later join Salem Baptist Church where she was a member until her death. Joyce operated the concession stand at the ballfield in North Charleston for many years and was well known for her crafting talents, her love of flowers and gardening, her cooking, and the many, many cakes she baked and decorated over the years. She was enormously talented and shared those gifts generously. Everyone she met became a friend as Joyce was extremely loving and never met a stranger. She loved children and was an instrumental part of raising so many children besides her own.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph “Joe” Daniels of Cross, SC; her children, Debi Stafford (Fred) of Cleona, PA, Glenn Daniels (Teresa) of Summerville, SC, Paul R. Daniels (Janet) of Hanahan, SC, Carolyn Rovelto (Eric) of Summerville, SC; her grandchildren, Jennifer R.
