John David “J.D.” Brown passed on June 16, 2021. He was born on October 27, 1946 in Aynor, SC. J.D. was the son of the late Wallace Brown and Thelma Skipper and is preceded in death by his two brothers Herman Brown and Horace Brown.
J.D. is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Linda “Shorty” Brown; Daughter - Shawn Denise Legg and her husband and J.D.’s “buddy” Chris; Son - Bubba Brown; Two cherished granddaughters – Reagin “Peanut” Davis and Abbey Lynn Brown; Two special nephews – Brian Wallace and Rob Wallace; and a countless number of close family and friends.
J.D. was raised to Master Mason on June 2, 1969 by Solomon’s Lodge #1 and retired from Westvaco after 29 years of service in November of 2002. Although “retired”, he never planned to slow down and pursued his true passion of carpentry full-time as Brown’s Home Improvements and the legacy will continue on with his son, Bubba.
In his spare time, J.D. would be in his garage either building, tinkering, or having a Thursday pool night. He also enjoyed motorcycle rides/trips, Friday nights at the Charleston Rifle Club, dancing and bowling. He loved his western shows (specifically Gunsmoke) and watched them daily with his lab “Cookie Brown”. He loved making people smile and loved life. There is no wonder he was known as “J.D. Brown, the sweetest man in town”.
The family invites friends and relatives to the visitation from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremation located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222.
