Mrs. Janet Ann Lowder Goolsby

Mrs. Janet Ann Lowder Goolsby, age 83, of Ladson, SC passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022. Janet was born September 17, 1938 in Concord, NC to Leroy Gibbon Lowder, Sr. and Willie Mae Shelton Lowder. She and her siblings were raised on James Island, SC.

Janet is survived by her daughters Darlene Williams (Stephanie) and Charlene Sharkey (Paul); her beloved grandchildren Lauren Sharkey Sanderson (Matt), Annie Goolsby Abbott (Justin), Philip John Barker (Nicole), Catherine Anne Sharkey (Aaron); and her great grandson James Conway Sanderson, whom she adored immensely.

Janet is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, James Jackson Goolsby, Sr., whom she met in Charleston, SC while he was stationed there in the United States Air Force; her son James "Jim" Jackson Goolsby, Jr.; her daughter in-law Donna Lamb Holland; her brother Leroy Gibbon Lowder, Jr.; and her sister Katherine Lowder Cales.

Janet loved doing crafts and was a member of the James Island Crafters Guild with her husband for many years. She loved doing word search puzzle books, going shopping, and eating out. She loved, and was equally loved by her special neighbors, Rosanna Gurley and Curtis Fox. Janet will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.

A visitation for Janet will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 12:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home with a chapel memorial service to follow at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will be held immediately after at Carolina Memorial Park. 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.
