Gary Lane Duty, 70, of North Charleston, S.C. entered into eternal rest Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Gary was born on July 16, 1945, in Chapmanville, W.Va., son of the late Harry W. and Beatrice (Trixie) Duty. He retired rom the U.S. Air Force after 26 years of outstanding service, garnering many awards including the 1987 U. S. Air Force Services Military Superintendent of the Year. In “retirement” he baked pita bread for Doe’s Pita, which gave him plenty of spare time to play golf, a sport he dearly loved. Gary is survived by his wife, Yvonne; son Mike; sister Patty Bryant of Chapmanville; nephew Jonathan; niece Jennifer and her family; and a host of good friends. The family will receive guests at a visitation at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 19, 2015. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
