Frances lived her early years in Alaska before moving to Kansas where she graduated from Eureka High School class of 1954. After graduation she worked at Newman Memorial Hospital in Emporia KS pursuing nurses training. A random event that changed her life was the visit of an Air Force (AF) recruiter to the hospital one day. Frances and her brother Frank surprised everyone by suddenly joining the AF together. Frances enjoyed working with numbers and was trained as a statistician. She met her true love, Jimmie, at Sheppard AFB and they married in Wichita Falls TX in 1956.
After becoming pregnant with their first child, Frances was required to leave the AF, which was the custom at that time, while her husband continued active service until retirement. Frances took on the role of military wife and homemaker while traveling together across the country and around the world. Ms Frances spoke very fondly of their travels to places such as Morocco, Germany, Paris, and Pensacola until Jimmie, Sr's abrupt passing in 2002.
Frances loved cooking, crafting, and shopping. She had a knack for being able to talk to anyone. A longtime resident of SC, she enjoyed living in Goose Creek and Summerville until moving to the veterans home for her final years.
Frances is predeceased by her parents Roy and Viola McGhee of Wellsville, KS, her husband Jimmie Sr, her youngest son Bobby Lee Yawn and her brother Frank McGhee. She is survived by oldest son Jimmie, Jr. (wife Kathy), daughter Julie Crouse, son Roger, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
