Debra Walker Hughes

Debbie was born February 11, 1952 in Danville, Virginia, to Henry and Frances Walker.

Debbie studied nursing in Charleston, SC, where she obtained her LPN. She practiced in the Charleston area until she moved to Camden, SC around 1992. She was the Operating Room Manager at Kershaw Health for 20 years. She loved her dogs, old movies, and the Republican Party. She was Catholic in her religious beliefs.

Debbie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed painting classes, sewing, crocheting, and watching Fox @ 5.

She is survived by her husband Steven Hughes; her daughters, Teresa Maksim (Michael, or “Mikey” as she called him) and Tammy Connolly, both of Charleston, SC. She had 6 grandchildren; Ryan (Caroline), Alex, Elizabeth, Amber, Walker, and Tanner. She also had 3 great grandchildren; Haven, Scarlett and Summer. Her nieces and nephews include Cayce (Jason), Keith, Derek (Jennifer), Angela (Dusty), Deena (Justin), and several great nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers; Jerry Walker and Michael Walker, and nephew Jamie Lee (Shaggee).

There will be a Memorial Service held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 10:00am at Carolina Memorial Funerals & Cremation, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406.
