On August 12, 2022, David Edward Holliday of Goose Creek, South Carolina passed away at the age of 42 years old. He was born July 25, 1980 in Charleston, SC, the son of Elena (Holliday) Lynch and Bernard Holliday.
David is survived by his devoted mother Elena Lynch; his big sister Brenda Holliday-Hinton; his brother-in-law Boyd Hinton; his nephews Kainoa and Nico; his niece Mali; and his best friend R.J. Lawrence.
David is preceded in death by his father Bernard Holliday; his step-father William Lynch; and his best friend Aubrey Zanders.
At a towering 6’3’’, David was hard to miss in sight, but spoke softly and kindly enough that one may not notice he was there until he spoke. When he did speak, his wit and kindness came through with every word. He was a true gentle giant.
He was an avid animal lover: David and his mother found a true passion in rescuing cats from nearby housing. From their rescue adventures, they adopted Missy and Blackie. David loved them both dearly, as they brought him calming comfort during his days of pain, and he often found himself amused when Blackie would snuggle with him and “make biscuits” as he kneaded his paws on David's blankets. David’s best little buddy was his mom’s chihuahua, Chuy. David loved Chuy very much.
David liked playing retro and vintage video games, and he liked to collect comic books. He liked sharing his comic book finds with his niece and nephews. David listened to many genres of music, from metal to synth-pop to top 40. He appreciated tunes from the 1980’s, as his mother plays 80’s music daily in her kitchen.
He found his talent with working on computers. He liked to troubleshoot and build, and worked jobs as a computer repair tech. He spent his days watching movies, helping his mother with her house, and being a faithful companion to her. David was fortunate enough to eat meals with her every day, and his favorite things to eat were her homemade leche flan and especially her famous lumpia eggrolls. David will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him. Those who were touched by his overwhelming generosity will always remember.
David always had a big heart, even with empty pockets.
The Chapel Memorial Service will be at 6:00pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406. A Rosary Prayer will be held for David at the funeral home at 5:00pm for those that wish to attend.
