Darlene Smith Sanderson

Darlene Smith Sanderson, 58, of Anderson, SC, passed away January 25,2021. On March 20, 1962, she was born in Charleston, SC, to Ollie L. Smith and the late Judy Alewine Smith (Judy Bug). She loved fishing, rock finding, and star-gazing with her cousin Dena. She loved watching her Gamecocks play football and was a great all-around athlete. She grew up playing softball with B&D Boilers. She played volleyball, basketball and ran track as a Hanahan High School Hawkette.

She is survived by her life partner, Tim Fullbright, and sons, Ryan Sanderson and Tyler Fullbright of Anderson, SC.; a sister, Cindy Smith Morrison (Greg) of Ridgeville, SC.; her niece Samantha Morrison Herrera (Brian), and great-nephew, Kai Allen Herrera all of Summerville, SC.; Darlene had four precious grandchildren, Ryleigh and Ryder Sanderson, Brantley Thames, and Zoey Syler, all of Andrews, SC; her aunt Debbie Smith Dunn (Jim) of Eutawville, SC, and first cousins, Shannon Kinlaw of Charlotte, NC, Dena Infinger Buck and Kelly Dunn of Eutawville, SC, and Taryn Smith Jones of St George, SC. She was preceded in death by her mother; her maternal grandparents, James M Alewine (Buddy) and Ella Bishop Alewine; paternal grandparents, Nathan L Smith and Doris Crumpton Smith; and paternal uncle, Timmy Smith.

Darlene had a heart of gold and would give anyone her last dime if they needed it. Over the years, Darlene has been a kind and loving caregiver to many. She even taught her aunt, cousins, sister, Tim, and her boys how to be great caregivers for her. We will all miss her sweet soul, her sense of humor, and her awesome smile. We love you so much, and thank you for the wonderful memories we shared with you!

Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021, at 12:30pm at Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406.

Masks will be required for anyone attending the service.
