The Lord called Charles to his Heavenly Home after a long illness on the morning of December 12th, 2021. Charles was born October 27th, 1938 in Bluff City, TN, to Roy Watson and Ina Belle Wood Watson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and many close relatives.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce D. Watson, brother-in-law, Robert C. Dugger, several nieces and nephews and friends that were as close as family.
After graduating Bluff City High School, Charles became a skilled builder, working his way up through the construction business, learning all the tools of the trade ending as VP of Construction of Beazer Homes. He loved drafting house plans and seeing them come to life from the ‘drafting table to model-ready’. His skills brought him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. Travel was one of those rewards that allowed him and Joyce to see the world, from Europe to the Orient. They lived several years in the Charlotte, NC area where Charles worked and built them a beautiful home. Then SC came calling and they moved to the Charleston area before building their retirement home in Goose Creek. Over the years, Charles enjoyed golf, fishing and the occasional latch hook craft kit. Due to health issues, their final year together was spent in assisted living at The Bridge in N. Charleston.
The most important thing to remember about Charles is that he was a believer in the Holy Trinity and was saved by our Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of Northwood Baptist Church.
Thank you to the staff members at The Bridge of Charleston, all who went above and beyond in bringing care, kindness and joy to both Charles and Joyce. Thank you to Intrepid Hospice whose special team has provided the ultimate care for Charles and compassion for Joyce, especially Megan who was a steady member on his team for almost two years. Thank you to our special friends and family who have provided for our needs.
