The family of Ms. Barbara Bell Williams invites you to say your final farewell on Monday, September 11th, at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston. Visitors will be received beginning at 1 pm, with a Memorial Service in her honor at 2 pm.
Barbara Grace (Benton) (Bell) Williams of Summerville took her place with the Lord on Friday, September 8th, in comfort, with the presence of family. She was received by those who preceded her in death; her late husband, Marion Eugene Williams, and her daughters, Loretta Williams Harvey and Mary Virginia Williams (infant).
Barbara was born on Dec. 10, 1933, in Charleston, SC to Gruber Benton and Helen Nelson. After her father passed very early in life, her mother remarried Thomas Bell, who raised the children as his own; since then, Barbara was always a Bell. There seemed to be endless stories about ‘Life on the farm’. This is where she learned her famous work ethic and inability to sit still. If you knew Barbara, you knew that she loved to work, garden, and clean.
She took pride in her house and yard as they were always immaculate. “A place for everything and everything in its place.” She also loved her second home in the mountains in McMillian Hidden Valley, where she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and attending the open-air chapel on Sunday mornings. You could be assured that either house you went to had TBN preaching in the background, a solid testament to her love for the Lord.
Barbara is survived by her children; Phyllis (Andy) Thompson, Dempsey (Maria) Williams, Grace (Keith) Paradise, Dawson (Becca) Williams, Laura (Wesley) Hall, and Christina (Zach) Williams, and a legacy of twenty who called her Grandmother, nineteen who called her Great Grandmother, and two Great-Great Grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. The family would also like to recognize special extended family members for their enduring love and care for Barbara.
Barbara Williams was a great lady and will be sorely missed.
