Eileen H. Gardner

Eileen Helen Marshall was born in Lambert, Montana on October 6, 1921 to Clarence M. and Mabel E. Marshall. She lived in Sidney, Montana with her family and attended Sidney High School where she showed appreciation for Music and graduated in 1939. After graduation Eileen worked as a bookkeeper in a local dentist office, until moving to Seattle, Washington in 1942.

Eileen moved to Seattle in 1942 where she married George Murl McCoy. He died in December 23, 1944 at the Battle of the Bulge.

Eileen worked a brief time for The Boeing Company in 1944. With an ambition to pursue a business related degree, she enrolled at the Griffin Murphy Business College. While attending classes, she met Bob Thayer Gardner of Kirkland, Washington in 1946. Eileen worked at the Junior Boot Shop for the next year or so until after his graduation from college.

Eileen and Bob were united in marriage on June 19, 1948. Over the next almost 40 years, they shared the blessing of raising three children. Bob died shortly after his retirement in 1985.

Not many years afterwards, Eileen accepted an invitation to tour a new retirement community to become built in Redmond, Washington. Realizing that her health never recovered after her late husband's death, she made a decision to sell her condominium and move to what is now Emerald Heights Retirement Community.

She treasured family gatherings, with special pride in the accomplishments of her children and granddaughter. She also enjoyed music, gardening, dancing, and shopping. Although considered even more a home body in later years, Hawaii always remained her favorite vacation spot.

Eileen is survived by her daughter Nancy Eileen Gardner Boone (and husband Tom) of Carnation, Washington, son Bob Thayer Gardner, Jr. of Shelton, Washington, sister Ruby Mae Zieske of Great Falls, Montana, sister Sharon Marlene Greenwood (and husband Gary) of Moore, Montana, brother Donald J. Marshall (and wife Betty) of Billings, Montana, brother Darrell Lee Marshall (and wife Florine) of Soldotna, Alaska and only granddaughter Lesley Marie Gardner (and mother Renae) of Mount Vernon, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob T. Gardner, son Ray D. Gardner, brother, Clarence Marshall, Jr., and sister Dorothy Louise Dooley.

Services will be private. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Emerald Heights Benevolence Fund at 10901 -176th Circle NE in Redmond, Washington 98052 or a charity of your choice.
