James Huntington Barbaric

You'd have to be a shadow and travel with James on a daily basis, all the little gesture's and kindness in the things he did, he never bragged, but intent was often, James was too honest for society to handle, they didn't know how to take him, he could see through BS easily and had no tolerance for it. He was great to travel with to AA assembly meetings, he'd forever take your plate before you finish at supper lol time to clean up.

Hi, I’m Jaycee and I’m going to tell you about my dad James.

So my dad was a very nice person, sadly he was found dead in North Battleford. My dad always had a sense of humor because this one time I was missing a fishing hook, and I said, ”Dad, where is my favorite fishing hook?” And he says “I don’t know, you probably lost it.” And in my head I said “did my Dad steal me hook? Probably not.” We were fishing on a bridge and my dad was as far away as he can from me, which is very odd because usually he would be on my left or right. So I look over to my dad and I see a red and black hook and I don’t have a good view of it because he keeps casting his hook. So I go over there and I tell my Dad “Real up your hook, Dad”. So he does and guess what? It’s my hook that I lost! So I say to my Dad “DAD THAT’S MY HOOK THAT I LOST!” and he says, “Okay, and it catches lots of fish”. So I’m like “Meh, alright”. Two minutes later I look to my left and my Dad has this monster of a fish. So I ask “Can we swap hooks?” and he hit me with a hard “NO”. So then after that happened, we went home, cooked up the fish and went on with our day.

The funny thing about my dad was he would fight with Ron Russell all the time. One day I came home from school and all I heard from Ron was “SHUT UP”, which he was saying to my dad. My dad ended up having too much that he got bored and left. But that’s all I gotta say about Ron and my dad.

James was born to Susannah and Herman Barbaric in Vancouver. He came to live with his grandfather and myself when he was 16 months old.

Even though James knew he was loved and cared for, being left by his parents created such a big hole in him that nothing could fill.

James was severely ADHD which proved to be very challenging for him. Even though he struggled with everyday encounters with people who didn’t know him or didn’t know what it was like to be ADHD, he still always seemed to be smiling.

James’ favourite thing was to go fishing. Often he would walk down to the river with his gear and try his luck.

James has 2 children, Jaycee, age 11, and Lilly-Mae, age 10. James and Jaycee lived together and of course went fishing together.

James was a good father, teaching Jaycee valuable lessons like using your manners, treating others with kindness and compassion. Lilly was also important to James. He was always buying her stuffed animals for birthdays, Christmas, and other special occasions, making sure that they were all different.

James was a good person and never bragged or advertised about his good deeds. He had an openness to the less fortunate. James volunteered at the food bank for about a year. James suffered from addiction as well as schizophrenia. Even though he became homeless, he still had his sense of humor and quick wittedness. Towards the end James would say welcome to the “Jimmy Show!” and when he finished talking to the voices he would always say “Okay, Good-Bye!”

So James, I say to you “Okay, Good-Bye”.
