Carol Beth was born on December 21,1965. She was raised on the Poundmaker Indian Reserve in Treaty Six Territory, also known as kiskihkomânihk. Carol was exposed to cultural ways as a youth attending ceremonies such as the annual sun/rain dance, round dances and feasts. She would spend time at mosômipana Adam and ôhkomipana Lydia Tootoosis’ farm with her siblings and cousins. Carol was raised in a large family and very large extended family. She attended schools in Paynton, Cutknife, pîhtokahânapiwiyin School, and the Lebret Indian Residential School. She was trained as a cook and spent much of her adult life working as a cook and as a early childhood caregiver. She was adventurous and her love of fun and laughter drew many people into her circle, many who were with her until the end. She was aware of politics and loved to attend Indian gatherings like pow wows, sports days, ball and hockey tourneys. Carol was like a social butterfly as she loved being around other people and just being Carol. She will best be remembered for being a caregiver and being of assistance to those in greater need, as she never turned away anyone who needed a place to sleep or share a meal.
She was predeceased by her parents Lawrence Weenie and Maggie Tootoosis, her sisters Lori and Roxanne Tootoosis.
She is survived by her siblings Janice Tootoosis, Warren Tootoosis, Malcolm Andrews, Milton (Shelly) Tootoosis, June Tootoosis, Sherry (Clarence) Tootoosis and many special nieces and nephews who she helped to raise over the years. Carol embraced her role as Auntie and Kohkum in a loving way and will be remembered fondly by all.
