He was born August 27, 1922 in Idabel, OK to Zee and Leona (Dunlap) Howell. He married Joan Beardsley who he shared 51 years with until her passing.
Zee proudly served his country in the United States Navy and the Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He was the biggest Sooner Fan being a season ticket holder for 62 years. He was seen on television most often for the softball games in row 1 seat 1. He only missed one Red River Rival game in 1957 due to the birth of his daughter. He never met a stranger and was proud of his state and often handed out maps of Oklahoma to people and showed them where the best fishing lakes were. He and his wife made a perfect pair; they loved to travel especially to Mexico. Zee loved to cook especially chile rellanos and chewy pecan pralines and his wife did all the cleaning. Above all he loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Valencia Howell and wife Bonnie Allen, Benson Howell, daughter in law: Erin Howell; Myrna and husband Jim Sanders; grandchildren: Thomas Edward Howell, James Isaac Howell, James Robert Sanders, Darin Andrew Sanders; great grandchildren: Julieanne Sanders, Mikey Ballard, Ayla Nichols, Morgan Sanders, Megan Sanders; great great grandchildren: Josiah Nichols; many nieces and nephews.
