William Christopher Shoemake III, "Chris" was born in Tulsa, OK on February 12, 1959 to Bill and Marthella Shoemake. He made the world shine a little brighter until his death on Friday, February 21, 2014 in Norman, OK. He died at home surrounded by his loving family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer.
Chris married the love of his life, Alicia, on May 27, 1978. For 35 years they weathered life's ups and downs, always together. They raised two children and accepted the role of grandparents heartily and happily. He was a loving husband and father, a generous friend, a devoted son and brother, and a doting Pop Pop.
To say he was a skilled carpenter would dull the beauty of his life's work. He was an artist whose medium was wood. His natural ability to excel at so many things was almost as admirable as his humility and soft-spoken wisdom.
Chris lived and loved big. He enjoyed golfing and fishing, and spent many happy days on the banks of a river with his lifelong friend, Robert Ramer. He passed down to his children and grandchildren a love for the outdoors. He made sure they knew how to build a fire, pitch a tent, put a worm on a hook, and appreciate the silent beauty of nature. He will be remembered by those who loved him smiling and laughing, always enjoying the simple pleasures in life.
He was preceded in death by his father Bill Shoemake and brother Tim Crisp. He is survived by his wife Alicia Shoemake, son Will Shoemake, daughter Amber McIntyre and son-in-law Danny McIntyre, grandchildren Ruby and Leo, mother Marthella Shoemake, sister Pat Elliott, brothers Mike Crisp and John Crisp, and numerous extended family members and friends.
