He was born March 9, 1927 in Hitchcock, OK to Fred and Dora (Fleshman) Baker. In 1948 he married Louise Didier.
Walter loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and his limousine cattle. He was a hard worker. He bought out Norman plywood and operated it for many years. He instilled his great work ethic in his children and the lumber business.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years: Louise of Norman; children: Freddie (Karan) Baker of Oklahoma City, Tony (Thurma) Baker of Moore, Ronald (Louise) Baker of Norman; grandchildren: Julie (Chris) Bussum of Newcastle, Justin Baker of Norman, Chris (Hannah) Baker of Norman, Brian (Jennifer) Baker of Moore; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service Tuesday January 5, 2016 at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 N. Porter Ave. Norman, OK 73071. Burial will follow at Norman I.O.O.F. cemetery.
