Thomas "Papa Tom" Alvarez, age 56, passed away at his home surrounded by his wife and kids, just like he would have wanted. Tom was born June 2, 1964 in Enid, OK to Pancho and Della Alvarez. He was the third of their four children. Tom grew up in Enid until relocating to Norman in 2003. In 1985, Tom married Cheri Chase where they had two amazing children Jessica "Bonehead' and Justin "Sweetboy" Alvarez. Later in 2009 he married the woman that he would spend the rest of his earthly life with, Carrie "Jeanetta" Alvarez, who made the family complete with Felix, Cristina, and Zachary. Tom was a machinist, one of the best, and finished his career at Kimray. Tom loved all sports, but softball and baseball were his passion. He was his happiest on the ball field, especially the last five years that were spent at the ballpark with all of his family. He would rarely miss a Sooners game, and always watched the Raiders, Lakers, and Cardinals. Being with his family and friends was his favorite, whether it was a cookout, one of his many parties, or just sitting around the table playing(cheating at) games. The only thing he loved more than a Ribeye cooked medium was PIE. If he wasn't watching MASH, he was watching game shows. One thing is true, the man NEVER met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife Carrie, children Felix James (Hollie) Fuentes, Maria Cristina Fuentes, Jessica Lee Alvarez, Justin Thomas (Jackie) Alvarez, and Zachary Harrington (Peri) Reed. Bonus kids Jase Copeland and Aaron Querry. Sister Cindy (JD) Overton, brothers Tim (Jan) Alvarez, and Terry Alvarez. Granddaughter Ashlee Rayanne Alvarez and future Baby Alvarez. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends that will always be family.
He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the C4K Foundation 720 W Wilshire Blvd #120, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Reaves Park on Saturday, December 12th at 3 pm with Edward Jordan officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Yates, Brian Lee, Coang Hoang, Pete Benge, Chris Thomas, Chris Lewis, Matt Root and Brian Root.
