Sonny Pugh, 88, of Norman, passed away on April 16, 2012. He was born July 22, 1923, to Walter and Marry (Morrow) Pugh in Big Cedar, Oklahoma. Sonny was a veteran of World War II serving from January 1943 through November 1946 as a crew member of the 487 Anti-Aircraft Battery. He participated in the New Guinea and Philippine Island campaigns. His decorations and citations include: the Good Conduct Ribbon, 487th AAA Bn. Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Battle Star for So. P.I. Go 95 USAFPAC, Battle Star for NG GO 26 USAFFE11, P.O. Lib Ribbon and Star GO 23 USAFFE, American Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon and Medal.
He was retired from Tinker Air Force Base. Sonny enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was very proud to be the husband of Loraine Pugh. They were married for 30 years. Sonny was a member of the Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife Loraine of the home; his son, Steve Pugh and his wife Melvina of Blue Springs, MO; his daughter, Cindy Lange of Midwest City; his brother David Pugh and his wife, Charlotte; his sister, Lillie Camp of Whitesboro; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
