Patra Christine Simmons was born on May 19, 1935 to Wenceslas (Ben) and Inez Ramirez, in Waynoka, Oklahoma. She received the holy sacrament of Baptism on July 20, 1935 and her first Holy Communion on July 16, 1944.
Patra graduated from Waynoka High School on May 14, 1954, and later graduated from Ponca City Hospital school of Nursing in August of 1960. Patra received a liver transplant in 1992 at Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute in OKC. She was also a survivor of the 1995 Murrah Federal Building Bombing.
Patra had 5 sisters, Gabby, Bea, Bo, Mary Lou, and Kathy. Along with 3 brothers, Jess, Paul, Manuel.
Patra was a dedicated Registered Nurse; she worked in the surgery department at St. Anthony Hospital then Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City where she eventually retired.
Patra enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed watching OU football and was a season ticket holder for many years. She also enjoyed going out to eat with her friends, doing word search puzzles and was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. Patra loved to travel, never met a stranger, and was always there to help family and friends.
In February 1967 she became a mother to her pride and joy Reiff, who she raised as a single parent. She completed her journey to heaven peacefully with Reiff by her side, holding her hand and listening to her favorite type of music, Christmas Music.
Patra is survived by her son Reiff and Trisha Simmons of Norman Oklahoma, her grandson Reiff Jr. and Jessica Simmons of Yukon Oklahoma, grandson Tyler Simmons of Valley View Texas, granddaughters Paige Simmons of Edmond Oklahoma, and Caitlin Moore of Glenpool Oklahoma, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters.
