He was born January 3, 1941 in Long Beach, CA to Nina Kathryn Walker Blaine and Basil Adrian Blaine.
Michael attended school in Bethany. Joined the Navy as a young man and was assigned to the USS Forrestal. After the Navy he attended Oklahoma State University and received two degrees from the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee. That led to his career as an Engineering Design draftsman for Brown and Root in Houston, Texas.
After 40 years in Houston, in 2015 Mike moved to Norman to be closer to his family in Norman and in Tulsa. He was a resident at the Brookdale Senior Living Center and was very comfortable there.
Preceded in death by his mother Nina Kathryn Trammell, his father Basil Adrian Blaine, adoptive father George Kenneth Trammell, nephew Jonathan David Jones, Aunts Joy Walker, Lota Middleton, Dorothy Lakey, Paula Walker, Uncles Phil Walker and Stuart Walker. His maternal grandparents were Rev. Edwin Dewitt Walker and Mary Agnes Williams of Oklahoma and Colorado
.
Immediate survivors: daughter Rebekah McKinney and her wife Mariann McKinney of Tulsa, Sister Adri-Anne Trammell of Norman, grandchildren Samantha Graham and Allsion Graham of Tulsa, great-grandchild Conan Sanders, Niece Teresa Diane Jones of Norman, Niece Mary Sanders, her husband David, children Miranda and Tiana Sanders of Catoosa. And many cousins from his mother’s family. Also his best friend since childhood, Arthur Funkhouser of Bern, Switzerland.
Mike will be buried with other family members in the Old Enid Cemetery. There will be a simple graveside ceremony this spring on a date to be determined. Mike always “marched to a different drummer” but he loved his family and friends. He was lucky enough to retire early and enjoyed the warm air and flowers of Houston. He was especially fond of his cat Sophie who died before he moved to Norman. He loved fig newtons and butterscotch candy and counted on his niece Teresa to keep those stocked in his apartment.
