Michael Carpenter

Michael Frank Carpenter, 79 passed away January 8, 2024, at his home in Owasso, OK. Michael was born April 26, 1944, to the late William J. Carpenter and Mary Frances Mears Carpenter of New Philadelphia, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ladd Carpenter, William Carpenter, and Dianne Carpenter Reece.

Michael graduated high school from New Philadelphia. He then entered the U.S Air Force in 1962. While he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska he met his wife, Linda Carpenter. They married on September 30, 1967, in Spokane, Washington. Michael served in Vietnam. After discharge from the Air Force Michael and Linda moved to Columbus, Ohio where they had their first son, Eric. Later they moved to Norman, Oklahoma where they had their second son, Brian. Michael worked as an electrician for General Motors in Oklahoma City, OK. Michael was transferred to Arlington, TX in 2007 where he retired from General Motors after 35 years. Michael and Linda returned to Norman, OK in 2018 and moved to Owasso in October 2023.

Michael enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

Michael is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Joan (Lay) Carpenter, sons, Eric D. Carpenter, and wife Laura, of Owasso Oklahoma, Brian D. Carpenter, and wife Jessica, of Arlington Texas. Grandchildren Rachael, Aiden, Ethan, Matthew, and Luke.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. Private inurnment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park , Norman, OK at a later date.
