Born on July 21, 1941, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to J.T. Pilgrim and Flora (Jackson) Pilgrim, Mary lived a life full of purpose, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She earned her degree in accounting from the University of Oklahoma and spent her life working as a successful accountant, retiring at the age of 67. Her work ethic and determination became core values she would pass on to generations after her.
Mary wasn’t just known for her career, she was known for her energy and creativity. She had a passion for the arts and brought that passion to life through her involvement in stage work, light shows, and pyrotechnics for events including the Oklahoma City Blazers hockey games. She was also a committed volunteer, giving her time and heart to many causes: she served on the Board of the Norman Depot and the Norman Arts & Humanities Council, volunteered with the Norman Regional Hospital and Norman Art League, and supported the OU Student Exchange Program.
She loved good food, good coffee, good scotch, and a good murder mystery. Her favorite music was Jimmy Buffett, which matched her warm, laid-back charm and love of life. But above all else, Mary loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandsons were her pride and joy. Her grandkids always made her laugh, and she made sure to pass on lessons about resilience, strength, and the value of hard work. She was the heart and soul of her family—a true matriarch whose presence will be deeply missed.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Flora Pilgrim; her brother, Joe Pilgrim; and her granddaughter, Kirsten Reynolds. She is survived by her loving sister, Jackie Payne; her four children, Haven Reynolds, Donna Reynolds, Carol Baldwin, and Elizabeth Lawrence; her six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons.
Mary Frances Teeter lived a full, vibrant life, one marked by hard work, laughter, love, and community. Her legacy will continue to shine through the lives of all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Heartland Hospice and Noble Nursing Home for the extra love and care they gave Mary.
A celebration of life for Mary will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
