Mary was born on December 30, 1959, in Woodward, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Norman when Mary was in the second grade. After graduating from Norman High School in 1978, Mary attained her bachelors in nursing from the University of Oklahoma. Not quite reaching her full passion and potential, she went on to receive an additional bachelors and master’s degree in social work. At the time of her death, she headed the Behavioral Health Department at Mercy Hospital.
Mary was a patient listener, compassionate, quick-witted, and wise beyond her years. She had an enormous heart and made an indelible impact on the lives of those lucky enough to have been touched by her. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her laughter was infectious. She loved her dogs, going to work, OU football, traveling to New Orleans and Santa Fe, and her happy place was on a floaty in the pool with her lifelong friends. Her work and her colleagues at Mercy were so important to her, and the caring and concern she had for patients was immeasurable.
She is preceded in death by her loving mother, and best friend, Ann Henslee; sister, Kat; and her German Shepherd children; Dakini, Kellsee, Mady, and a lab, Sully.
Mary leaves behind her sisters, Billye Polson, and Dava Bradley, who were there for her until the end; her nephews, Brandon Dellinger, Seth Dellinger, Sam George (Aja), JJ Bradley and Chris George; great nieces, Maddison, Elena, and Taylor; great nephews, Easton, Sebastian, Dalton, and Lukas; and furbabies Remye and Tuffy. She also leaves behind her lifelong forever friends who are so special to her, with whom she shared an incredibly tight bond filled with laughter and love throughout her life.
A note of special thanks and love to the late James Jansing and the Jansing family for their unwavering support throughout Mary’s life.
In lieu of flowers, Mary would have wanted to spread more love by requesting that guests make a donation to a charity of their choice.
