Marion McKenzie Grant, born August 20, 1922, in Somerville Massachusetts. She was the youngest of three children born to Leah Pearl Thorne and George Daniel McKenzie. Carried home in the loving arms of Jesus on April 10, 2020.
Marion was raised in Somerville MA, graduating from Somerville High School. She was united in marriage on June 12, 1943 to her loving husband of 77 years, Delfar D. Grant. Wherever life would lead them, Andover MA, Poughkeepsie NY, Boca Raton FL, Deltona FL, Palm Coast FL, and Norman OK, she was a devout wife and mother. Marion served the Lord her whole life. A member of the United Methodist Church. She was a faithful steward of her God-given gifts and talents. Every year she crocheted baby blankets for United Methodist Women to be sold for the annual bazaar, to raise money for missions worldwide. She also donated the crocheted baby blankets to Birth Choice for young mothers in need. It was her special way of serving Him, to which brought her great joy. Marion was a very active member of the GCGer’s (Goodrich Chronologically Gifted) and her Sunday School. She was a wonderful baker, letter writer, and an exceptional role model of a Godly Woman. Her smile, laugh, and grace brought much peace and joy to those around her.
Her life was a true testament of a servants heart, unconditional love, and a fervent prayer warrior.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:28
