Lou P. Fanshier, a beloved resident of the OKC metro area, peacefully passed away on April 10, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on February 3, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to D. L. Whiting and Edith Graham, Lou was a cherished member of her community.
Lou's journey began at Capitol Hill High School, where she graduated before becoming a lifelong resident of the OKC metro area. Her love for music spanned genres, with a fondness for gospel, 50’s and 60’s rock and roll, and classic country tunes. Her vibrant spirit was reflected in her favorite color, pink, and her beloved flower, carnations.
Her perfect day was spent in the springtime yard or embarking on a road trip with her beloved husband, Chester, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Lou had a remarkable sense of humor, often teasing her loved ones, and family gatherings were always filled with laughter.
Lou was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a guiding light, imparting invaluable life lessons to her family. She instilled the importance of common sense, good manners, and gracefulness in all situations, as well as the value of perseverance and completing what you start.
Above all, Lou will be remembered for her unwavering faith and dedication to her family. Her bond with Chester was unbreakable, and their love story was one for the ages. Chester's passing on March 2, 2024, left a void in her heart.
Lou's professional accomplishments were equally noteworthy, with 36 years of dedicated service in the federal sector. Yet, her true legacy lies in the love and wisdom she shared with her family and community. Lou was also a longtime member of the Franklin United Methodist Church.
In honoring Lou's memory, let us cherish the moments shared, the lessons learned, and the love that will forever remain in our hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion, forever cherished by those whose lives she touched.
Meeting Lou at the gates of heaven is her beloved husband, Chester Fanshier, a brother; Ralph and Aileen Whiting, as well as her sister; Jone Thompson.
Lou leaves behind two sons; Ronnie C. Fanshier and partner James “Mac” Heath of OKC, OK, and Tommy D. Fanshier and spouse Dana G. Fanshier, of Choctaw, OK, as well as two grandchildren; Tristan C. Fanshier and partner Gracie Nimrod of OKC, OK, and Brandon S. Haimes of Choctaw, OK.
A memorial service for Lou will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
