Lorraine J. McElhany was born in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, on November 3, 1920. She was the daughter of Otto and Ora (Birchum) Gibson. She grew up in Cleveland County attending Norman Public Schools graduating from Norman High School. Following her education she married James Howard McElhany on September 13, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and they made their home in Norman, Oklahoma. On September 16, 2014, Howard preceded her in death and she moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Norman.
She is survived by four nephews, Robert Gibson of Panama City Beach, Florida, James Gibson of Lawndale, California, David Gibson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Neil Gibson; one niece, Dee Gibson Jones of Edmond, Oklahoma; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Monday, July 11, 2016, at 1:00 pm, at the First Christian Church in Norman. Burial will follow in the Norman IOOF Cemetery.
