Born October 21, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas to Charles Kenneth Byers and Dixie Lee Cook Byers. Dale and his wife Susan married in 1980 and started the family business State Wide Electric, Inc. Many family members have worked for -- and still work for, the family business. Dale valued quality in all that he did, and this was expected of those that worked for State Wide.
Dale is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan Byers, his mother Dixie Byers, his brothers: Gary and Dean Byers, his son Logan Byers, his daughter Karri Shcolnik and her husband Dan, his son Derek Elmore and his wife Jairan, his son Brant Elmore and his wife Dallas, his grandchildren: Alexandria (AJ), Katie, Jorjia, Jacobi, Elliott, Ian, AJ, and his wife Kiara, Ruth, and Kenneth, and a great-grandbaby due very soon. Dale is survived by many friends who knew his loyal heart. He would do anything for a friend or family.
Dale was a lover of all things camo, music -- especially the sad songs, which were the only thing he liked loud, he loved Payday candy bars, and he always had one with him. He loved guns, knives, hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. He almost always had sunglasses on, even wearing them at night. He rarely smiled in pictures, he delighted in his family and friends more than he showed, and somehow, that was apparent if you knew him. He always proclaimed to be a student of human nature, and he was an avid reader. He was a generous, private, and quiet man with a special sense of humor, and a dry wit. He is the first person you would want in a crisis, with his calming reaction to all situations. Dale loved Susan, and he always told others she was his favorite person. He loved big with his heart and it just finally gave out. He will be so very missed by all that loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Meals on Wheels of Norman would be Dale’s wish.
Funeral service will be Friday, May 26, 2023 at 2:00PM at Primrose Funeral Service in Norman, burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City.
