On October 22, 2022, Mom, Mamaw, Nini stepped into the presence of her Heavenly Father following a brief illness. While it was sudden to us, God in His mercy, spared her from a diagnosis that would have been very difficult for her at 90 years of age. Services have been entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service of Norman. A celebration of her life will take place at 10am Thursday, Oct 27th at Southwest Baptist Church in S. OKC. Public visitation will take place at Primrose Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 26 from 4pm to 8pm and the family will greet friends at the funeral home from 4pm -6pm.
Juanita was born June 13, 1932 in Hobart, OK to Leslie and Inez Buckner. She graduated from Moore High School and spent her life working as an accountant, working 30+ years for Jay Petroleum in Oklahoma City.
She always showed great strength spiritually and physically. She loved the Lord, His Word and her church. Her days started early with breakfast and then reading her Bible, which she read through every year since 1989.Southwest Baptist Church was her church home for more than 60 years. In earlier years, she kept attendance records for Sunday school and up until the pandemic, she could be found on visitation, visiting the shut-ins, working in the Nursing Home Ministry.
Unless she was sick, she could be found in her place in the pew supporting and loving her pastor and the ministry of SWBC. Often she could be seen giving someone a loaf of her fresh baked sweet bread or handing out “Smarties” candy to children. Prior to becoming too weak to lift her big cast iron skillet, she made the best peanut brittle which she gave to friends for Christmas. Words fall short of expressing our love for the testimony she was to our family in praying and encouraging us in our daily lives. She was a true prayer warrior.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard Weston, brothers Harold (Betty) Buckner and Gerald (Gloria) Buckner.
Left to cherish her example of godly living are her daughters Susie (Vernon) White and Carol Mosier, grandchildren Kim (Eric) Ohsfeldt, Jennifer (Sean) Sorensen, Ashley (Vince) Guyomard, Mandy (Alex) Fingerhut, and Tyler Mosier. Great grandchildren Hayley (Bryce) Easley, Landon & Addy Smith, Rylan (Morgan) Sorensen, Olivia & Camden Sorensen, Mason & Carter Guyomard, Bentley & Rylie Fingerhut and great, great granddaughter, Elsie Easley.
