I was a friend of Jon's for nearly 60 years. We were both navy brats who grew up in Millington, TN. We did just about everything together over the years. We were part of a small group of guys that were so close that we all continue to describe ourselves as brothers. We were all loyal to one another and could always be counted on in a time of danger or need. Jon proved this countless times through the years. What we enjoyed most was causing one another minor pain or embarrassment. We constantly berated one another and pulled pranks on one another as only those who truly love one another can do. What we did most was laugh. Jon was a joy to be around and always brought out the best smart remarks, to and from, his friends.  When he came to visit, my own wife usually joined Jon in ganging up on me. He just had that effect of folks.   I will never forget his impish smile, which I always knew meant that he was up to something.  I am so thankful that just prior to his passing  we were all able to go on a cruise together. The last words that I said to him were, "I love you man" and he responded "I love you brother".  I will treasure this last memory. Jon will live on in the hearts and memories of each of the many friends who loved him.  I am sure that when I get to heaven he will be waiting behind a cloud, just to trip me as I meet God. While I am sorrowful beyond words, I am so grateful that he was such a huge part of my life.
