Jerry B. Huddleston passed away surrounded by family Saturday, February 12th 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 77. He was born January 24, 1945 in Lawton Oklahoma to Willie F. and Louise Huddleston. Jerry spent his early youth in Hydro, Oklahoma, moving to Conway Springs, Kansas where he graduated High School. He received his college degree from Bethany Nazarene College in Oklahoma where he met the love of his life, Linda Hames. They were married January 28, 1966. Jerry later attended Kansas State University and received a Master’s in Psychology. Jerry served in the US Army where he was stationed in Lawton, Oklahoma as well as in Germany and was honorably discharged in September of 1973.
Jerry made a career working for the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech as a Regional Administrator, retiring in 2008. Jerry also raised cattle and ran the family farm for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Nazarene church. Since 1980 he has been a member of Norman Community Church of the Nazarene formerly known as the First Church of the Nazarene. He served on the board of the Church for many years, giving his time, talent, and love to his church family. One of his main joys was doing the tractor rides for all of the kids at the church during the Pumpkin Patch every October. Jerry’s hobbies included farming, spending time with his grandkids, and just piddlin’. Jerry was always willing to offer his knowledge and a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a good supervisor and had a great eye for detail. Jerry had a gift for talk and making people feel welcome, never meeting a stranger.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father Willie F. Huddleston, his mother and stepfather, Louise and Harold Little, brothers, Bob Huddleston and Billy Huddleston. Jerry’s love and legacy lives on through his family including his wife, Linda Huddleston, his sons and their wives, Kevin and Cassie Huddleston, Keith and Stacy Huddleston, his grandchildren, Bradley Morris and his girlfriend, Lindsey Cox, Bryon Huddleston, Emily and Tommy Shimkus, Wyatt and Rylee Huddleston, Abbi Huddleston, Justin and Morgan Huddleston and numerous other family and friends.
Service for Jerry will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Community Church of the Nazarene.
