Jim was born in Oklahoma City on April 12, 1941 to James Jay Johnson Sr. and Bertha Muriel (Maxson) Johnson.
Jim graduated from Norman High School in 1959 and then earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Central State University in 1963. Later, at the age of 60, he went on to graduate from The French Culinary Institute of New York.
Jim worked as an insurance agent for 35 years. He also opened Bistro on Main and got to flex his chef muscles with his restaurant.
Jim enjoyed fishing, OU Football, watching soccer, and cooking. He was a dedicated member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his son Chris Johnson, and his sister Suzanne Attocknie.
Left to cherish his precious memory is his daughter Tracey Johnson, his sister Lisa M. and her husband Kent Schmidt, his niece Sarah Schmidt, his nephew Zachary Schmidt, and his dear pets: Rachel Maddow and Cooper, along with many other beloved family members and friends.
