Greg was born in Chicago, Illinois to George and Margaret (Klasa) Dryanski. He graduated from John Hersey High School and completed his undergraduate education at Ripon College, Wisconsin before studying medicine in Poland. While there, he met Eva Bardasz of Cleveland, Ohio, and the two returned to the United States and married in 1977. Greg completed his Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean on the island of Montserrat.
His medical practice took him to Cleveland, Ohio; to Detroit, Michigan; to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he raised his family over 20 years; and finally to Norman, Oklahoma. He was known for his patient demeanor and thoroughness. His last professional years were spent at the VA Hospital.
Greg was an impossibly curious man, whose love of history, fine-scale models, and table-top gaming made him a regular visitor of museums and conventions. In retirement, he lectured on topics of military history, particularly the struggles of Poland and its people in the 19th and 20th centuries. He will be missed at Historicon, at Little Wars, and anywhere the Raiders travel.
Survivors include his wife, Eva; his sister Lucia; children Alina Dryanski-Kaiser, Christina (Andrew) Whiteside, and Andrew (Shayna) Dryanski; grandchildren Alex Dryanski-Kaiser and Peter, Arthur, and Helena Whiteside; his dog Max; his brothers in Beta Sigma Pi; and many, many good friends and neighbors. Tell a good pun in his memory or, better yet, a bad one.
A viewing for Greg will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
