He was born December 13, 1933, to Edward Walter and Bertha (Haddock) Pruitt, in a log cabin on Moody Hill near Tahlequah. He was the oldest of three sons. Ed was always active and involved with life, family and friends. He loved to travel and always had a great sense of adventure. Later in life, Ed taught himself to paint and produced many beautiful oil paintings.
Ed spent most of his adult years in Oklahoma City, Moore and Purcell. At 18 he started work at Cook Electric Supply, which began his 33 year electrical supply career. He founded Pruitt Electric Supply and Pruitt Ranch where he raised Polled Herefords (including part ownership in World Champion YF Phenomenal), emus and ostriches. He was a long-time member of the First Methodist Church in Moore.
Ed was preceded in death by his father, Edward (who died when Ed was 12); his mother, Bertha (Haddock) Pruitt Lamont; stepfather, Carl Lamont; his brother, John Pruitt; his wife of 47 years, June Wheeler Pruitt; son-in-law, Ron Gehrer; granddaughter, Megan Christian; and grandson, James Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Kepler; son, Mark Pruitt; daughters, Donna Gehrer, Beth Christian Moore and husband Larry; grandchildren, Travis Kelley, Russell Hollingsworth and wife Whitney, Michelle Vijgen and husband, Alphons, Nicole Leatherman and husband James, Tyler Christian, Katy Carmincke and husband Brian, Luke Benjamin, and John Pruitt; great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Kyle Kelley, Mysteri and Mauritius Browning, Avery, Kate and Caroline Hollingsworth, Zoey, MacKenzie and Mykailah Leatherman.
We will greatly miss his hugs, kisses, stories, sense of humor, friendship and love. We are grateful to have shared his life.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 1 at the First Methodist Church in Moore. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service. For on line condolences visit primrosefuneralservice.com.
